Digger 101 — dig deeper, play free online
A shovel, a shaft and a kilometre of rock below. Dig down, haul the ore up and put it back into your gear: pickaxe, jackhammer, diamond drill, plasma cutter. Down there are hollows with childhood relics, sleeping worms and lava — and at 1010 metres, the core. Free to play right in the browser: nothing to download, no sign-up.

Arrows walk, ⛏ digs. Or just tap the rock on the board
Arrows or WASD walk, X or the ⛏ button digs, space jumps. Mouse and finger are simpler: point at rock and the digger breaks it, point at open space and he walks there. Walking alone never touches rock, so you can press against a wall and climb it. The ✥ icon hides the panel, the ♪ icon holds music and effect volume.

How to play
- You dig down and sideways — with the ⛏ button or by pointing at the rock; walking never touches it. Digging up would bring the roof down: you climb out along the wall of your own shaft, by jumping, by deportation, or by cage.
- Every action eats battery charge. Run the charge or the hull to zero and the descent is lost along with the cargo. Everything you bought and found stays with you.
- Rock harder than your tool simply will not budge. Layers open up through purchases: shovel, pickaxe, jackhammer, diamond drill, plasma cutter, annihilator.
- Ore fills the pack chunk by chunk. Reach the surface and it sells itself; the tokens go into modules in the terminal.
- Cages at 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 metres unlock once you walk into them. The next descent can start from any unlocked cage, and riding up from one is free.
- You cannot see what is inside the rock — neither ore nor gas. You find out when the block comes out, and gas then blows: the hull takes a hit and a whole square comes down, ore included.
- Worms sleep in the hollows. They cannot dig, but they do run along your own tunnels — the way back is worse than the way down.
- There is one shaft for the whole game, and it runs left and right without an edge. What you dug stays dug and mined ore never grows back: you can come back to your own face a week later.
What you are digging for
The core sits at 1010 metres. A shovel will not get you there: first the cages at 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 metres, then a tool that bites through obsidian, and only then the rift itself. Crack the core and you take the Heart of the Earth — and the abyss opens below it: a bottomless shaft where ore is worth half again as much and depth is limited only by your battery. Along the way the terminal comes on the line and tells you what happened to this shaft back in ninety-four — the story ends when you do.

Finds
Nine things from the past lie in the hollows, each at its own depth. A find is picked up once and stays with you forever, and so does what it grants. Anything still missing shows up in the terminal as a question mark with the depth to look at.

Notes from the shift
The shift of ninety-four left notes underground: Vitya explains boulders, foreman Sokolov why you never dig upwards, surveyor Marina the gas and the deep heat, timberman Lyokha what it was all for. Every note is both lore and a hint; the ones you have read stay in the terminal.

Cassettes
Ten tapes for the player: buy them at the terminal kiosk or stumble on one in a hollow. A loaded tape loops instead of the usual soundtrack — the player picks the music.
