GTA 6 music: tracks and radio stations

The music of GTA VI is currently being pieced together from two sources: Rockstar’s official trailers and the gameplay leaked in August. Both are here — but kept apart and labelled, because they are not equally reliable. A song from a trailer is definitely in the game. A track the community picked out of someone’s phone recording is probably in the game, and sometimes turns out to be a different song entirely.

Since 17 September there is a third source — the official album, covered below: Rockstar released its singles itself, and in the list they carry the “Rockstar Newswire” label.

What is already certain

There are two lead songs, and neither choice was accidental. Trailer 1 runs on Tom Petty’s «Love Is a Long Road» — southern rock from 1989, setting the tone for the whole game. Trailer 2 goes with «Hot Together» by The Pointer Sisters from 1986, and that is pure Miami: disco, pastel, heat.

Both songs climbed in streaming afterwards the way almost nothing does: Tom Petty gained roughly 37,000 % in plays, The Pointer Sisters 182,000 %.

The official album arrives on 19 November

On 17 September Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album — the official soundtrack album, made in partnership with Atlantic Records. It has 34 original tracks: not licensed hits from decades past, but songs written for the game. The album launches on 19 November, the same day as GTA VI.

Six singles came out on announcement day and are already on every major streaming service:

The spread speaks for itself: Swedish cloud rap, Nashville country, Puerto Rican reggaeton, an Argentine duo with British electronic producers and the guitarist of The Rolling Stones. “RHYNO” was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one half of Daft Punk.

The album is also coming out physically. The store at gtavi-thealbum.com has three exclusives: a limited-edition vinyl at $124.98 — two transparent discs filled with blue liquid — a standard double vinyl at $49.98 and a CD at $19.98.

The album is not the whole soundtrack. In the same announcement Rockstar promises more details on the music of the game — the dynamic score and “the next evolution of in-game radio”. The station line-up is still not official. All six singles are already in the list below and in my playlist.

Every song from the Extended Look

The 26 minutes shown on 27 August carried fourteen licensed tracks. Rockstar has not published an official list: the songs were identified by ear by journalists watching the premiere — IGN and SVG independently arrived at exactly the same line-up.

A fifteenth piece in the footage is an extended version of the main GTA VI theme from trailer 2 — Rockstar never released it, so it did not make the playlists the outlets put together.

An important caveat: this is the music of the footage, not an announced radio line-up. Rockstar has not said what actually goes on the stations — how the station names themselves read is covered below.

Phil Collins is worth a separate note: he already played himself in Vice City Stories back in 2006, and «Against All Odds» in the showcase is the second nod to him in the same footage. Where the music of Leonida grows from in general was described in an interview with Dazed by Rockstar’s senior vice president of narrative: the studio started from Miami bass and from the way Miami hip-hop lives in house parties, clubs and the expensive places of South Beach all at once.

Where the station names came from

The station names can be read straight off the radio menu in the leaked clips — the one where Jason flies a plane over Vice City. This is not a datamine and not a rumour: the list is read straight off the screen. But Rockstar has not confirmed it, and it can still change before release, which is why every station is tagged «from a leak» rather than «official».

Some entries speak for themselves. V-Rock is the Vice City rock station, and its vulture logo was spotted on Jason’s t-shirt back in the trailer. CircoLoco Records Radio comes over from GTA Online: Rockstar is carrying its own music brands into the new game. Symphony FM explains where the Sibelius in the leaks came from — a classical station would be new for GTA.

How this list is kept

The rule is simple: a track goes on the list only once it has been checked. For official footage that means the footage itself. For leaks it means at least two independent write-ups agreeing on the same title, or my own identification from the footage — Shazam plus the lyrics picked out by ear; where the sources disagree, the track stays on the list with a red flag and an explanation of the disagreement.

Release years get checked separately, and that is not pedantry: half the aggregators date «Everybody Have Fun Tonight» to 1989 when the song came out in 1986. A small thing, but a list you can trust is made of small things.

As of 24 August, 15 stations have been counted in the radio menus across the leaked clips — from V-Rock returning from Vice City and CircoLoco Records Radio from GTA Online to the classical Symphony FM and the talk station The Wipe. The full list with identified tracks is in the «Radio stations» block on this page, and it keeps growing. Rockstar has not confirmed it officially.

Where can I listen to the GTA 6 music?

The playlist is built on five services at once, so you can open it wherever you already listen: Yandex Music, VK Music, YouTube, Spotify or Apple Music. Every track also plays directly on this page through official YouTube audio, which needs no subscription at all.

How many songs will GTA 6 have?

Rockstar has not given a number. For scale: GTA V shipped with roughly 240 licensed tracks across 15 radio stations, and years of updates about doubled that. The number of stations in GTA VI has not been announced either: more keep turning up in the leaked clips, and the current count is in the «Radio stations» block above.

When does the official GTA 6 soundtrack come out?

The official album, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, comes out on 19 November 2026, the same day as the game: 34 original tracks made in partnership with Atlantic Records. Rockstar announced it on 17 September, and the first six singles are already on every major streaming service. It is not the whole soundtrack: Rockstar has not named the full radio line-up yet and says details on in-game radio are still to come.
