GTA 6 walkthrough: what to expect, and why none exists yet

Updated:

The short version: no full GTA 6 walkthrough exists today. The game launches on November 19, 2026 — before that day nobody outside Rockstar has finished the campaign, and no mission list has been published. Everything sold as a “GTA 6 walkthrough” today is either guesswork or a retelling of leaked material, not a fact about the game.

So this page stays honest: today it explains what’s officially known about the campaign’s structure and how Rockstar walkthroughs have worked before. On November 19 I’ll come back and open a real walkthrough table of contents here, built as I play through the game myself.

Why there is no mission list

Rockstar does not reveal campaign structure before release: no mission titles, no chapter count, no order. That has held for every game the studio has shipped.

A second factor piled on top — the leak. Working files ended up online, and an industry of “complete mission lists” grew on them. The problem isn’t only that publishing stolen material is ugly, it’s quality: an internal task name is not a mission in a finished game, and half of what’s listed gets changed or cut before release.

The tell is easy: if a “walkthrough” is dated before November 19 and contains specifics — mission names, chapter order, the ending — it isn’t one.

What’s officially known about the structure

There aren’t many hard facts, and they all describe the frame, not the contents:

  • Two protagonists — Jason and Lucia, and you can switch between them almost all the time. It’s one shared story about a couple, not three parallel lines the way GTA 5 ran them. The setup is on the story page.
  • The campaign is split into chapters — that’s how the people taken to the closed showing at Rockstar North described it.
  • Missions can offer several routes — the high-rise scene shown had more than one way out, and sometimes you pick who drives and who shoots. The mechanics in full are on the gameplay page.
  • Around 80 hours — the development head’s personal playthrough, optional objectives included. Where the number came from and why it can’t be read as “story length” is in the extended look breakdown.

A mission count, chapter titles and the shape of the ending aren’t in that list. Nobody has stated them.

How Rockstar usually builds a campaign — precedent, not announcement

What follows is precedent, not an announcement: this is how it worked in the studio’s earlier games, and nobody has promised it for GTA 6.

A Rockstar story is normally linear by chapter: missions come one after another, and between them the game lets you loose in the open world with no timer. Plenty of content is optional — side strands, random encounters, the completionist checklist. And some of it closes permanently once the story moves on: that’s why GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthroughs are stuffed with “do this before chapter such-and-such” warnings.

If GTA 6 holds that shape, a walkthrough splits into three parts: the mandatory line, the optional stuff on the map, and the things that are easy to miss for good. I’ll check that on November 19, not now.

About spoilers

A walkthrough is one continuous spoiler by construction, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Here’s how I’ll split it: story sections get their own headings with a warning, while the technical part — controls, money, prep before a job, what not to miss — sits apart and stays clean. For the first week you can come here for the technical side without learning how it ends.

What lands here on November 19

A walkthrough table of contents: chapters in order, what’s mandatory in each, what you can walk past, and where it’s worth stopping before moving on. Plus the technical part, spoiler-free.

Mission-by-mission breakdowns live on the 100gta6.com wiki, not here: the hub explains and navigates, the wiki holds an entry for every single thing. One more note: the campaign is played solo, and there will be no online mode at launch at all. What to do on the day itself is on the launch day page.

Frequently asked questions

How many missions are in GTA 6?

Unknown. Rockstar has published neither a mission count, nor a chapter count, nor any titles — the studio never reveals campaign structure before release. Any specific list circulating right now is assembled from guesswork or from leaked working files, not from the finished game.

How long is GTA 6?

The only figure ever stated is around 80 hours, and it is Rob Nelson's own playthrough — he heads development at Rockstar North — given to The New York Times. The caveat matters: those 80 hours covered optional objectives as well as the main line. It is not a "story length" and not a HowLongToBeat measurement.

Where can I find a GTA 6 walkthrough?

Nowhere right now: the game launches on November 19, 2026, and before that day no walkthrough exists. I'll fill this page with a real walkthrough table of contents on November 19, as I play through the campaign myself; mission-by-mission breakdowns live on the 100gta6.com wiki.

Do I need to be online to play through GTA 6?

No. On November 19 the game ships as a single-player title — there is no multiplayer at launch at all, so the whole campaign is played offline. The online mode arrives separately later and has nothing to do with finishing the story.
